Thanksgiving Books – Act Now Before It’s Too Late!

Some years I forget about Thanksgiving books until lo the season is fast upon us.  Not so this year!  I just put in hold requests at our library and was not too surprised to see that most of our favorites have wait lists already.  If you want to read Thanksgiving books with the kiddos this year, start collecting them now!

If you’re looking for inspiration, here are two roundup posts I did from previous years:

Oodles of Thanksgiving Books

Favorite Thanksgiving Books

This year three (!) of my kids are reading, two of them quite independently in long chapter books, but we still look forward to reading aloud from our old favorite picture books.  It’s such a lovely thing to do together, especially when it’s cold and blustery.  It sets the tone for the holiday season in general and is a shared memory.  I love that after five or six years of reading the same books every November the kids can practically recite so many of these.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving books?  What Thanksgiving traditions does your family always do?
