If you’ve ever wanted to know more about how social media is changing the way companies do business and marketing, or if you’re interested in getting into social media marketing with your blog or website, you’d probably really like Groundswell. The authors define the “groundswell” as the phenomenon of people getting the information they need from each other instead of from companies. The book looks at the way the groundswell operates and includes information on a variety of ways that companies and consumers can connect online.
Although the book is three years old, and in the world of online social media that is OLD, the authors did a good job of establishing a methodology that works for different platforms, so even if a new social networking medium emerges, the ideas in the book would still be applicable.
I thought the authors wrote convincingly about blogging – how companies should approach the idea, how to maintain a good blog, and how to interact with consumers on blogs.
If you are active in social networking and new media, or if you’re interested in how companies market these days, I think you’d enjoy Groundswell.
