Thirty-one is not an age of particular note but it does place one firmly inside the decade, from whence one can presumably get over the astonishment of not being twenty-something anymore and press on to new heights of thirty-something luminosity and fabulousness.
To be honest, I have not felt overwhelmingly luminous or fabulous lately, but that is why I made an appointment to get my hair highlighted next month at the Aveda training salon my friend Amy told me about. That will allow my inner beauty to radiate, I’m nearly certain. Perhaps I will post before and after photos so that you can applaud the results (or commiserate, as the case may be).
If all else fails, I think I will make it my thirty-one year old resolution to smile more. Probably I’ll wind up with more wrinkles, but at least people will say, “Oh look at that old lady with the luminous hair – doesn’t she have a pleasant expression?”
