The kids and I are sick, and it’s raining, so it looks like we’ll be scrapping the usual activities. It’s hard to read out loud for hours when your throat is killing you, and the kids can’t breathe and their noses hurt. We are a bunch of pathetic mopes today! Good thing I did the shopping yesterday and got some tea.
I had planned to make chicken soup today, so when I was at the grocery store I looked for a rotisserie chicken. At Meijer, they are $5.99 for a very hefty bird with a lot of meat on its bones. Meijer didn’t have any chickens when I was there, so I stopped at Kroger on the way home. They did have rotisserie chickens, but their birds were $7.99 and were roughly the size of a softball. They were more like Cornish game hens, really. In fact, they would more aptly have been advertised as “Rotisserie Shetland Chickens.” Needless to say, I did not purchase one. Instead I’m going to make soup using some leftover chicken fajita chicken that needed to be used up anyway. I guess that will impart an unusual flavor to the soup!
I hope you are all feeling much better than we are around here!
