The authors of “Shopping for Time,” which I reviewed last week, apparently call each other at 5am every day to inspire each other to get up early. They call it the 5am club. I think getting up early is great, depending on your season in life. Personally, I’m not a very patient person if I don’t get enough sleep, so I can only manage it when I have gone to bed super early and haven’t been up all night. Last night I went to bed at 8:30 pm (I know, it’s early, but I was really wiped out) so today I was in my own personal 5am club.
I got up and had some coffee and cottage cheese while doing my Bible reading, and then I worked out for an hour while watching the Biggest Loser. As you’ll doubtless recall, I like to workout under the inspiration of that show, and since I went to bed early, I had Josh tape it. On a VHS tape. Remember those?
Aren’t we so old school? We still have a VCR, and, moreover, we USE it! We don’t have DVR, but that’s because we don’t have cable. And yet we live.
That is the extent of my membership benefits for today because Jack woke up at 6:30. Still, it was not a bad start to the day.
