A Question of Clarification

The last time I was getting my hair cut, the girl who was cutting it told me I needed to use clarifying shampoo because using regular shampoos and conditioners had left lots of waxy buildup on my hair.

I figured she made commission on salon products so I was disinclined to take her advice at the time. After all, I don’t use hairspray or other gunk, and my hair doesn’t look shellacked to me.

However, before we left for the beach I had my mom trim the back part of my hair (thanks Mom!) and she said the same thing! Now I’m paranoid that my hair is coated with five pounds of Pantene and Garnier Fructis and all the other stuff I’ve been getting free from CVS lately. Egads!

My question for you, dear readers, is this: have you ever used clarifying shampoo? Does one use it exclusively or just every now and then? Does it matter what brand you use (that is, does CVS sell it perchance?)? Thoughts? Advice? Snide remarks?
