Media Reaction

Since Hannah loves nursery tales (we have “The Helen Oxenbury Nursery Story Book” out from the library and keep renewing it over and over) I thought she might like a DVD that showed those stories in animated form. Even though she loves to hear the stories and look at the pictures of the Billy Goats Gruff, the Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood in book form, when she saw the cartoons she flipped out! She started crying and ran away saying she was scared and didn’t like this movie.

Frankly, I don’t mind if she prefers reading books to watching movies, but it certainly is interesting how different Hannah’s reaction is to different types of media.

I’m glad we have been previewing the DVDs we checked out from the library prior to taking them on our trip this week, because it turns out that the library only lets us have 12 kid DVDs out at any one time. Thank you to everyone who left such helpful suggestions on my previous post! Hopefully the DVD player will make the long drives more pleasant for us!
