"Higher Standards, Lower Prices"

Every now and then it’s possible to get to a whole new level of resourcefulness in parenting. This afternoon Jack woke up from his nap before Hannah did, and almost immediately perpetrated a dirty diaper. Since the diapering stuff is in the room where Hannah was sleeping, I grabbed the diaper bag to change him. I found a diaper, but no diaper cover. What to do?

I keep a bunch of plastic grocery bags in the diaper bag to put dirty diapers or wet clothes in when we are out. I found one and cleverly devised a way to put it on Jack like a diaper cover, using the Snappi (which is a rubber fastener for cloth diapers kind of like a cross between a rubber band and a three way Ace Bandage holder) to keep it together and was proud of my work.

Here is Jack sporting his new diaper cover. It should keep him dry until I can get to the real diaper covers, but he makes funny crinkly noises every time he moves!

Then as I was snapping pictures, Jack rolled over, and I cracked up. Notice above and below the expertly centered Meijer store logo the surprisingly apt slogan:

HIGHER STANDARDS….LOWER PRICES

‘Nuff said.
