Since we’re headed out to spend Christmas with my family this year, and since our normal Christmas tree place is closed for some reason, we decided not to have a big tree this year. It seemed like it would be a little weird to take down our tree before Christmas, and I wouldn’t want to leave a real tree with lights on it because of the fire hazard.
We have our Jesse tree up in the front window, and Hannah is having a lot of fun with it. I’m happy that we did the organization in advance this year, because it’s working out SO much better than our by-the-seat-of-the-pants version last year. Hannah gets excited about the Jesse tree every night after dinner, and brings her little Bible for Josh to read us “what God did” while she holds that day’s “oh-na-mint.” Jack listens patiently, probably plotting to himself about how next year he’s going to get his hands on some of the oh-na-mints too!
Aside from the Jesse tree, I did a simple mantel arrangement and hung up our stockings. My mom smocks stockings for us, and Jack’s isn’t finished yet, so we won’t have his until we get to VA.
I also put candle lights in the front windows, and made a wreath for the front door. It looks pretty similar to the one I did last year, but this year’s wreath has a better bow. I put up the little wreaths on our chandelier again too, as in the pictures from last year’s decoration post.
I guess the nice thing about not doing too many decorations is that it didn’t take me long to get it done (I had it all in place the weekend after Thanksgiving in about an hour), but I do miss the big tree. I’m looking forward to enjoying the one at my parents’ house!
