A Bonny Wee Bit of the Homeland for Christmas

Sometimes I click on the random ads in my gmail account. Today I clicked on one exhorting me to purchase a Scottish title for my loved ones.

Well now.

It seems that for a mere 29.99 pounds (that’s roughly $62 American) you can buy a bit of a Scottish estate and that somehow qualifies you for a title. Upon close examination, I found that they do this by going from a definition of “laird” as “landowner.”

Why do I get the sneaky suspicion that most Scottish people who own a bit of earth do NOT fancy themselves part of the nobility?

Anyway, this is a huge ripoff, but if money were no object I would totally buy this for my father-in-law for Christmas. He’s very into being Scottish (they fly the Scottish flag under the American flag on their flagpole and everything), and he would think it was droll to have a framed document declaring him a Laird!
