Long ago, before we were married, Josh and I used to get into big conversations about things like the proper thing to call soft drinks. As I recall, Heather, Martin, Laura, and John used to get in on the question too. After all, one can only discuss infant baptism so long. Anyway, I saw this link to a map of how the population as a whole votes (map shown above).
I still prefer to call soft drinks “Coke” even when they are not technically Coke. It’s like calling facial tissues “Kleenex” or adhesive bandages “Bandaids.”
However, living here in the Midwest, I have learned to avoid confusion by not indulging this preference.
But I still think the best way to enjoy a Coke is to have it stocked plumb full of little plastic swords and a jillion cherries. Laura, are you with me?
