As we were driving down Mt. Comfort Road the other day, we passed a little produce stand in somebody’s yard with a hand-painted sign advertising “fresh fruits and vegetables.”
I’m a sucker for locally grown produce, so I almost stopped, but then I noticed that the table was mostly full of pineapples and bananas. WHAT????
Folks, we live in central Indiana. No matter how green your thumbs may be, you are not growing bananas and pineapples in your backyard. My guess is the produce stand is stocked by the local Walmart. And I don’t know how “fresh” I would characterize the Walmart produce, you know?
Technically speaking, the sign didn’t SAY the produce was grown in that person’s garden, but certainly that is IMPLIED. Am I alone in feeling that there is a wee bit of false advertising at work here?
Josh said I should also add that the people with the produce stand in their yard have a second hand-painted sign advertising “human and animal massage.” Whatever THAT means!
