Hannah and I got up at 4am (Thanks Hannah!!!) but we waited for Josh to wake up to start Christmas festivities. In the meantime, I did my quiet time, exercised, made two pies, made gingerbread scones, cleaned the kitchen, etc etc. At least I was productive! Above is the tree and gifts prior to opening presents.
The Jesse Tree is now complete, and was, for the most part, a fun thing to do with Hannah. Next year I think she’ll be able to participate more, but it’s good to start traditions early.
Here are our loaded stockings and the raging fire Josh built. Hannah was mesmerized by the fire, and it was kind of hard to induce her to open her gifts!
Since we spent the month of December warning Hannah “Don’t touch!!!!” every time she got near the tree or presents, she kept looking at us when we would put a present in front of her, as if to say, “I know I’m not supposed to touch these – what is this, some kind of test?” Finally we convinced her it was ok to open them. She was more interested in the paper than the gifts, but we expected that!
Here is a shot of the whole family at my in-laws house. I know, it looks like the same shirt I wore yesterday, but it’s NOT, it’s a maternity shirt. Actually I found this morning that all of my maternity pants except one pair are too big, so I’m not sure if switching was premature, but the one pair that do fit (although I was still hitching them up all day long – ladylike, no; necessary, yes) were more comfortable than my regular pants. Oh well! If only suspenders were in style! At least I can wear the maternity shirts just fine. And I don’t have to suck in my stomach all day! Woo hoo! 🙂
