This morning I woke up at 3:45 am (not on purpose) and couldn’t get back to sleep. I usually get up extra early on Sundays in an attempt to get Hannah a nap before church, so I just had a little extra time today. She didn’t take a nap, in case you’re wondering. Actually, she is in there yodeling instead of sleeping at this very moment, which will make this evening extra fun for her grandparents who are babysitting her while Josh and I go to the communion service at church.
Anyway, being tired didn’t stop me from finishing my workout (proud to say that in the past 6 weeks I have only missed 3 days total), but it did make me a little less coordinated when I was getting ready. That is how I spilled a LOT of perfume on myself. Luckily the county didn’t declare a toxic spill situation, but if you wondered why 2nd RP smelled like Hermes “Caleche” today, now you know.
I really like perfume. When I was in college, I used to try new perfumes all the time. Now that I have pretty much “found myself” and all, I have three favorite perfumes that I stick with. They are classics and work well with my personality and general style. I have been out of perfume for a while, but a few weeks ago, in anticipation of possibly receiving birthday money tomorrow, I did get two little bottles in a really good deal at www.perfume.com. Plus I went through MyPoints so I got a little closer to my goal of saving up points for a $100 gift card good at Motherhood Maternity, Mimi Maternity, or Pea in the Pod. I still need 5000 points to get there. Maybe I’ll get it in time for Bean 3!
Today I was wearing “Caleche” by Hermes. It’s a fall/winter fragrance for the most part, although it can work for an evening situation in the spring or summer. Caleche is spicy but still feminine and I find great deals on the tiny sample size bottles of the Eau de Parfum. The only downside is that you have to really wiggle the top to get it off, and that can lead to gratuitous over-application as previously described.
On my wedding day I wore Chanel No. 19. Sadly, No. 19 is never on sale. They are always having deals on Coco and Chance and No. 5, but never No. 19. Gr. Anyway, it’s not as overused as some Chanel fragrances and I think it’s a little more sophisticated than others in the product line.
Finally, I also enjoy “Paris” by Yves St. Laurent. This is not to be confused in any way with Paris Hilton, who is one of the most annoying and tacky people this world has ever known. The Yves St. Laurent “Paris” fragrance is light and flowery without being cloying. It’s a good everyday scent.
