Today Hannah and I hosted our friend Alicia for a luncheon. I felt like having an elegant repast and so I pulled out the good china, sterling, and crystal and we had three courses. First we had Greek Lemon Soup (from the Silver Palate cookbook, which is probably my most favorite cookbook) with Cheese Wafers (from a Southern Living recipe) on the side. The soup is different, but really good and was a nice start.
Next we had San Antonio Chicken Artichoke salad (family favorite…well, in my family anyway, Josh terms it “Lady Chicken Salad” – presumably because it’s not too filling and has lots of stuff in it), baby asparagus spears, and a mixed field green salad with dried cherries, pear, and white balsamic viniagarette dressing.
Finally, we had individual bundt cakes (I used the Bishop’s Cake recipe from Silver Palate, very good) with raspberries and Harrod’s Rose Petal tea. I forgot to take pictures, sorry, so I’m putting in a picture of my china pattern so you have something to look at. 🙂
It was fun to have good conversation and get to know Alicia better, and Hannah likes Alicia very much so she actually smiled when Alicia took her picture. Hopefully some of those pictures come out well because Alicia has a very good camera.
