Dinner Parties

I love dinner parties. And teas. And brunches. And pretty much any other event that involves having people over and pulling out the good china. I don’t entertain as much as I would like, but we are busy busy busy and by busy I mean we are parents of a very active 10 month old and a slightly less active (only because he/she is currently contained I’m sure) baby at 9 weeks gestation who is currently rendering me exhausted and green about the gills approximately 99 percent of the time (and I’m very grateful that he/she is because that’s a great sign!).

Anyway, I just read this fabulous and funny article in the Washington Post about a girl giving her first dinner party and I thought it was spot on. I haven’t made all of the mistakes she did, but y’all, seriously, lamb takes like SIX times longer to cook than the chart says.

Also Yankees evidently don’t know that the best way to enjoy lamb is with mint jelly, but that is neither here nor there.

If you have any amusing anecdotes from dinner party debacles, feel free to share them in the comments section. Yes, that means you, lurkers, I know you are reading even if you never comment! 🙂
