Changing the Seasons

I like to decorate for Autumn. In deference to my husband’s view of when Fall begins, I just made these changes, rather than first thing in September. 🙂

First, I made a new wreath. I always make wreaths new, because if I try to keep them, they get smushed. This fall I used my wire wreath form, and wired leaves, berries, dried wheat and dried flowers, bittersweet, and some gold spray painted seed pods to the form. I finished it off with a bow made of green, russet, and gold satin ribbons. I think the effect is very nice.
Then I did a new mantel arrangement. I left the acuba leaves from the summer since they live forever and maybe will root, and added some beaded pears and little fruits and berries. It’s probably a little much muchness, but I really like fall decorations. A closeup of the arrangement is below.
Finally, I did a little centerpiece in a cornucopia basket for the table. And that is Autumn at our house!
