Over the past few weeks, Hannah has been working on her speed in crawling. It hasn’t been much of a problem since we’ve been traveling, but today was our first day home and I realized that we are in trouble! We need to get the childproof locks on the cabinets and the gate at the top of the stairs! Were it not for my eternal vigilance, Hannah would have taken several tumbles, sampled all the items in the cabinets, and broken all of her daddy’s expensive instruments.
Tonight when he got home, Josh showed me why he was unable to get the baby gate up while we were gone. In the picture at left, a craftsman is using a plumb line to insure that his wall is straight. Let’s just say that the builders who worked on our house plumb forgot that part of the process! As a result, we can’t figure out how to install a straight gate on our sloping walls.
Our main project for the weekend is figuring out how to install the childproofing and what to do with the guitars, mandolin, and Josh’s vast, vast CD collection.
If anyone has suggestions on how to teach 7 month olds not to pull books off of shelves, I’m all ears for that too!
