‘One of the reasons I like bread and jam,’ said Frances, ‘is that it does not slide off your spoon in a funny way.’ – “Bread and Jam for Frances” by Russel Hoban
I couldn’t go to Biblestudy tonight because Hannah was being “squonky” during dinner and we decided it would be best to just get her to bed on time. It was a good decision because as soon as Josh left she turned on the waterworks, so I gave her a quick bath, we read “Bread and Jam for Frances,” I fed her, and put her to bed a little before 8:00.
It’s great that H-bean is sleeping through the night now (8 or 8:30 pm to 7am) but that also means it’s harder to go out at night because she gets tired. Sometimes she’s good about sleeping at someone else’s house if she’s swaddled and we remember to bring the music box part of her Peter Rabbit mobile to play for her, but sometimes she just cries and I wind up missing the event anyway as I try to calm her down. Josh takes this all in stride and says it’s just part of the parenthing thing. He thinks people understand. I hope they do, and I hope they don’t think Hannah is a bad baby, because really she is very sweet tempered, it’s just that when she is tired and hungry and in a strange place, sometimes she gets upset. It happens to the best of us.
Although I am sorry to have missed study tonight, it was nice to stay with Hannah. I love that she reaches out for me and gives me big kisses; it’s so awesome being a mommy!
